lightwander into the potential of what’s yet to come

For us, lightwandering means seeking visions for a healed future unrestrained by the experiences of the past. If we give ourselves freedom to imagine and explore all the goodness that could be created “out there,” it becomes possible to work backward to connect the present we are currently experiencing to our dream futures. In this way, each of us can pre-tend our own utopias.

FAQ

What is a self-led ritual journey?

We’ve curated a series of activities and experiments in a go-at-your-own-pace online play-space.

How does it work?

The journey is browser-based and will work with most modern devices. It is optimized for display on smart phones and tablets. Sign up with your email address for free access to the course.

What is included?

You’ll be invited to listen to guided somatic meditation recordings, read inspiration gems, practice with mantra and journal in response to story portals (writing prompts).

What is somatic meditation?

Somatic meditation is an invitation to fully experience the sensation of life force in the body. By practicing bringing our attention and awareness to the whole body and our connection to earth, stuck tension and energy patterns will often release. As tension is dropped, we can settle into a more connected and abundant energetic flow within our bodies and all that surrounds us. We may experience a softening of our hearts and more open access to our intuitive powers. The guided somatic meditations in this ritual journey will focus on grounding, discovering inner wisdoms and integrating new connections within the body system.

Why is meditation important?

In our experience, a meditation practice is one of the most important portals to freedom, wisdom and understanding our own potential. There are also proven scientific benefits to meditation for the nervous system, focus, clarity, peace and general well-being.

What are inspiration gems?

Throughout this ritual journey you’ll be presented with words and ideas from other poets, teachers and mystics. By experiencing and considering the multi-faceted surfaces of others’ stories and perspectives, we may discover mirrors to our own stories and insight into our own ways of being.

How do I play with inspiration gems?

There is an invitation to read inspiration gems aloud so your whole being can listen to the vibration. We may want to read quotes and poems more than once to encourage layers of meaning to unfold. Consider the ways the story or message in the inspiration might reflect your own stories or experiences.

What is a mantra?

A mantra is a phrase that you repeat aloud or silently. Ram Das calls mantras “mind protection”. We have found it is possible to persistently use potent and intentional phrases to rewire thought patterns and attract more of the vibrations we want to experience into our reality. You may find mantra to be a powerful spiritual practice to peel back layers of mind and reactivity while creating new neuronal connections.

How do I play with mantras?

The invitation is to repeat each mantra aloud at least three times. You might want to pay attention to whether repeating the mantra is easy or creates resistance in the mind. If mantra practice speaks to you, you might want to continue repeating the mantra several more times or over several minutes of meditation to see how the mind’s reaction can shift over time. For many people, using a mala or a string of beads as a counting tool can deepen the experience of mantra.

What are story portals?

Story portals are writing prompts that encourage our stories that crave witnessing and our inner wisdoms to surface.

How should I use story portals?

Choose to enter the story portal which draws you most strongly in that moment. Or if there is something else entirely calling your attention, feel free to write about what is coming up for you. Rather than thinking too hard, the invitation is to trust the present moment. Return to any unused portals at another time to inspire future journaling. Suggested writing times are listed with each story portal. You are invited to handwrite in a journal using your favorite pen or pencil. Engaging fully in the early muscle memory and the embodied sense experience of handwriting can gift maximum access to our subconscious mind and intuition. The goal is to keep the pen moving until the time is up and try to skip any judgement about the writing. Allow what wants to flow, flow. Offer yourself the gift of reading your words aloud to yourself when the time is up (if you have enough privacy to do so comfortably of course, otherwise feel free to read silently). Close story portals by thanking yourself for honoring your highest self and giving space for your inner wisdom to be expressed and witnessed.

Why is journaling / story telling important?

When our stories remain trapped inside, they wield power over us. Released and shared, we reclaim the strength of our stories. When we honor our authentic voice, we garner an awesome ability to shape the narrative of our futures. As we share our stories to our journal page, the delights and traumas of our pasts are subject to the alchemy of our creativity and courage. We believe telling our stories frees our pain and multiplies our joy.

But I’m not a good writer.

Instead of listening to the inner critic that might judge writing to be good, bad, publishable or unworthy, we prefer to use writing as a sacred tool of integrating past experience and future desires in a way that honors one’s essential self. Whether you think of yourself as a good writer or not, you’re invited to honor your voice and stories as unique, valuable and worthy of being heard. Forget about grammar, rules or being graded. Remember that when we summon courage and embrace vulnerability to share our stories, then we heal ourselves, we heal others and we heal our world.
